Bayern Munich have won 32 of 60 Bundesliga titles. Man Utd won 13 of the first 20 Premier League titles. I don't remember this being a pertinent question at the time Utd were winning it every year. It seems there's no problem in our government selling arms to the middle east but all hell breaks loose when one of our clubs is bought by an Arabic investor. Hypocrisy of the highest order.

Thanks for your comment. First of all, of course there is a problem in governments selling arms to Middle East, but I write about football. There is a hypocrisy as you mention and I referenced that in my piece on the World Cup in Qatar. The question of ownership is only part of this. Of course you are right about Bayern's dominance, but FCB's best run was three in a row prior to this current streak of 11. Juventus won nine in a row recently in Italy. PSG have won nine of last 11. City have five from six in a league which was supposed to the most competitive. The trend is there. Manchester United were dominant as you rightly say, but they were/are England's biggest club and they won the title with 77 points, 79, 80 (twice), 82 and 83. Their best return in a 38-game competititon was 91. That gave others a chance. A lot of those numbers wouldn't be high enough these days. City's recent run has seen them reach 100, with their lowest winning total 86 points. We have a whole new level of wealth and dominance these days and it is happening across Europe's biggest leagues.
